—Lancaster Farming. Saturday, Jan. 29, 1977 28 What's new & NEW GLEANERS INDEPENDENCE, Mo. - Completely new monitoring systems have been included in the new F 2 and K 2 models of Gleaner combines. They have the same basic two stage cleaning and sure feed system and many features of the larger Alhs-Chalmers models. The Combine Division of the Alhs-Chalmers Corp. has also incorporated such design changes as a new quiet cab, new transverse flow fan system, new tractor drive control with an in tegral hydraulic cylinder and new solid state elec tronic monitoring. Both units have “true” center line design for full vision of the cutter bar, as well as stubble behind the header on both sides, and results in balanced weight distribution. This also provides a low center of gravity for maximum stability, traction and flotation. One of the primary ad vantages of the F 2 and K 2 combines is their sure feed system. Material travels only 15 Vi inches from the rear of the header to the cylinder, and is controlled to within one inch of the cylinder. The harvested crop is fed into the cylinder by means of a 12 inch beater with four inch retractable fingers that comb and feed the material across the entire width of the cylinder in a uniform manner. In addition, the pivot point is located behind the cylinder so that regardless of the header height, the crop is fed at the same angle, further assuring uniform threashing. This process contrasts with other systems using raddle conveyors or beater systems to carry the crop long distances to the cylinder, which may result in concentration of the crop into the center of the cylinder. This produces uneven threshing and uneven wear patterns on the cylinder bars. The Gleaner F 2 and K 2 combines also have a safety concave door to protect the cylinder concaves and thresher housing from rock damage. When a foreign object, like a rock, enters the system, it is automatically ejected through the concave door. A warning light and TRY A CLASSIFIED AD! audible alarm alerts the operator that the door is open. This cuts costly repair bills and downtime which can mean the difference between getting a crop in on time or not. The F 2 and K 2, with the down front cylinder, offer? a long separation area in two stages. As material is threshed at the cylinder, a wing beater agitates and fluffs the crop and delivers it to the top of the front separator. A contstant air blast heeps _ the lighter material in suspension while the grain falls through to the raddle where the majority of the separation occurs. The material then enters the rear separator where the straw walkers complete the separation process. One of the exclusive features of the F 2 and K 2 is the new transverse flow fan with two stage cleaning. A single fan with dual outlets is used in this process. The upper outlet directs a heavy air blast through the crop as it comes off the separator raddle, pre-cleaning it before it reaches the cleaning shoe. The crop is finish cleaned as the lower air duct directs a uniform, controlled volume of air to the shoe. DO-ALL CARRIER The Do-All Carrier, which attaches to all Category 1 and 2 tractors with its own built-in three-point hitch, has been introduced by Delphi Products Co., Inc., P. 0. Box 256, Delphi, Ind. 46923. Ac cording to the manufacturer, this new carrier makes it possible for tractors to be much more useful around the farm, hauling livestock, hay, fertilizers, herbicides, farm equipment, tools and many other things, often to locations not accessible to other farm vehicles. With the back corner posts, side and back panels in place, the Do-All Carrier is ideal for hauling pigs and other small animals. Since it hauls only a few at a time, it minimizes opportunities for the animals to fight. The tubular bars in the panels are vertical, preventing animals from trying to climb out, thus avoiding injuries. -The back panel has a sliding “sorting” gate which can be set at any size opening desired. By setting the gate at a small opening, sorting of small or baby pigs from larger ones is ac complished easily.- -By removing one pin from either side panel, it becomes a swinging gate. The side and back panels are removed quickly and easily by pulling pins at both ends. The back corner posts are lifted out. This makes it very convenient to use the Dq-AU Carrier for hauling all kinds of items. Because the floor of the carrier isipw - near the ground - loadingand unloading takes less effort. There are two Do-All Carrier models: D-6, with 4- foot x 6-foot floor space, and D-8 with 4-foot x 8-foot floor space.
