Lancaster Farming. Saturday, Jan. 29.1977 Ephrata ag club visited Tioga County EPHRATA, Pa. Representatives of the Junior Ag Club of Ephrata Junior High School visited Tioga County on January 21- 23. The highlight of the trip was cutting browse for deer to eat. They worked under the supervision of Dave Brown, game lands manager for Potter and Tioga Counties. In addition to cutting browsing and touring gameland management practices, the group also made numerous stops at agricultural points of in terest. They toured the vo-ag department of Southern Tioga County High School at Liberty and visited the Raymond Butler dairy farm. They looked at rattlesnake rattles and Winchester rifles at Ralph Miller’s store in Morris, visited the Penn sylvania Grand Canyon and toured the Pennsylvania Lumber Museum. They saw the snow and ice at Beech wood Lake and did a little ice fishing at Lyman Run State Park. Their host, Dave Brown, gave them the op portunity to catch and bring home a few rainbow trout. They attended church at Ansonea, visited a fish .hatchery in Morns and Observed ice fishing at Little Pine State Park. They returned to Ephrata Junior High School Sunday evening. The group consisted of Marvin Fox, Tim Aungst, Merle Nolt, Marvin Horst, Terry Hertzog, Avery Copenhaver, Daryl Martin, Clifford Weaver, James Groff, Galen Sauder, Clair Beyer and Charles Ackley. The boys claim they en joyed the trip and consider it a very worthwhile ex perience. Some said they wish they could have stayed longer while the reaction of others included hopes of doing it again very soon. The group traveled 520 miles -during their three-day excursion, They reported seeing many deer, mostly back off the road feeding on an excellent acorn crop on southern slopes.
