10 —Lancaster Farming, Saturday, Jan. 15. 1977 Fava wins HARRISBURG - Penn sylvania Guernsey breeders met here at the Farm Show on Monday for some friendly and traditional competition, and then met the following day for their 46th annual meeting, at which time recognition was bestowed on several of the association’s members. Taking the most prestigious awards in the senior division at Tuesday’s luncheon meeting in Camp Hill were K.D. and Else Linde of Oxford, Avalong Lee Yost presents plaque to Outstanding Guernsey Boy, William Romberger. 43m Guernsey youths who were cows were, left to right, Tina Rutter, recognized at the Guernsey banquet Rick Crider, and Jennifer Harding this week for owning high producing representing her brother. Jeffrey Farms of York and Dennis C. Wolff from Millville. All three were recognized for outstanding performances m the production field. But taking most of the glory that sunny and bitter cold afternoon was Alisa Marie Fava, who for the second year in a row received a trophy resem bling the kind which is normally reserved for great sports teams. Known as the Sewickley Guernsey Cattle Club Trophy, the award has been given annual since 1938 At Guernsey meeting top Guernsey trophies to an outstanding member of the Guernsey Cattle Club. Miss Fava also received the George W. Snyder Award, a large bowl symbolizing championship at the 1976 Junior Dairy Show. The Washington County girl didn’t stop there with her winnings. Not surprisingly, she also captured the Out standing Girl Award. Her champion at the Farm Show and at the 1976 Junior Show, which is a part of the Pennsylvania All-American, was “Applebrook Corporals Cass.” The outstanding boy in the Pennsylvania Guernsey Breeders’ Association is William Romberger of Pitman, Schuylkill County. Production awards in the youth division were given to Tina Rutter for her 2-year old cow’s record. “Rutter Brothers Hornets Ruth” produced 13,908 pounds of milk and 660 of fat in 305 days on twice a day milking. A 3-year old cow, “Penn Del Charming Patty,” earned owner Rick Crider of Nottingham an award for her production: 12,286 pounds of milk and 575 of fat. Jeff Harding of Brookville won the honor with his 4-year old cow, “Maplevale I. Chi Chi,” which produced 15,412 and 635 pounds of milk and butterfat, respectively. Harding also won an award with his 5-year old, “Clover Clad Nancy,” which pumped, out 12,500 pounds-of milk and 523 of fat. Linde and his family were recognized for having had the highest DHIA average among Pennsylvania’s Alisa Marie Fava from Scenery Hill, Washington County, received several trophies at the Guernsey meeting this week. The one she’s pictured with is only the largest one. She was recognized as champion of the 1977 Farm Show, champion-of the 1976 Guernsey herds. The family’s 49 cows averaged 13,848 pounds of milk and 646 pounds of butterfat. Avalong Farms had the high cow for milk in 1976. Their Happy Hill F.
