—Lancaster Farrnini 74 Holid For those craftswomen who enjoy making cor nhusk dolls, a good way to incorporate that talent into Christmas decorations is to place a baby Jesus in the arm of a cornhusk girl. To complete the Christmas scene, cornhusk sheep can be made and placed around the doll. sfc .ate. -ste..=ate. -Ate -fite, -efe Tea and pretzels make nice gifts At Christmas time, the big phrase seen or heard on many commercials is “What do you get the person who has everything?” That’s a difficult question to answer, but there is one thing everybody loves that they sooner or later run out of - food. And, while it’s not as long lasting as a material gift, it’s equally appreciated by those who receive it. Now that coffee is so high-priced, many former coffee drinkers are turning to tea for a hot drink. For those who have, or for those who should have made this move because they complain about the prices they have to pay, a nice decorated gift canister of homemade tea would be an excellent gift. One recipe* for tea that you can make yourself is: 8 ounces (3 cups) orange pekoe tea Va cup shredded orange peel 4 inches stick cinnamon, coarsely crushed 2 teaspoons whole cloves, coarsely crushed 1 tablespoon finely chopped candied ginger • Made of 14 Gauge Steel • Longer Taper for Easier Flow • All welded seams which make it water proof and rodent proof • Can be installed inside or outside building • Most installations can be made without auger. PRETZEL ORNAMENTS Or, a gift that is somewhat along the food line, but not made to eat, is a pretzel tree ornament. These gifts are perfect for relatives who visit from outside the state or anywhere the Pennsylvania Dutch German influence is not prevelent. To make these tree decorations, you need two-eggs to start, assorted pretzels, assorted multi-colored sprinkles, food coloring, granulated sugar, multi colored candy crystals, and cake frosting mixes of the colors of your choice. As you begin the process of making the ornaments, the granulated sugar and food coloring should be kept in separate, flat-bottomed bowls. To make these decorations, separate the egg whites from the yolks. Then, beat the whites lightly until they are slightly frothy. After this, brush the lightly beaten egg whites onto the pretzels with a basting brush and dip them into the bowls of sprinkles, colored sugar, and other embellishments. Then, place them bottom down on wared paper to dry. When they are dry, the twisted type of pretzel can be slipped directly onto the branches of the tree or tied onto the limbs with a colored ribbon.
