    Andrew Stoltzfus’ “Daisy" captured the top spot in both milk and butterfat
production for records completed in October. Beginning her lactation at age seven
years and fight months, the registered Holstein tallied up a record of 26,583 pounds of
milk and 1040 of butterfat. Taking second place in butterfat was Robert Seidel’s
“Lola,” which chalked up a record of 23,637 pounds of milk and 1016 of butterfat. The
reserve milk production crown went to Eleanor-Siegried’s “Fran," which tipped the
scales at 26,096 pounds of milk and 953 of fat.

down eleven percent.
Commercial meat
production includes
slaughter in federally in

slaughtered on farms.
Beef production totaled
over 2.2 billion pounds, three
percent below October last
year but two percent above
October 1974. Cattle kill
totaled 3,658,400 head, eight
percent under last year and
one percent over October
1974.
Seventy-five million
pounds of veal were
produced in October, 21
percent below the 95 million
pounds for that month a year
