1977 ACP program opened
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The
1977 Agricultural Con
servation Program (ACP) is
open now for enrollment.
The program objective is to
obtain needed conservation
on farmlands beyond that
which the farmer would
accomplish with his own
resources.
The 1977 program will be
administered by the
Agricultural Stabilization
and Conservation Service
through its farmer-elected
committee system and will
offer annual conservation
agreements with farmers. It

is delegated to each of
USDA’s farmer-elected
County Agricultural
Stabilization and Con
servation (ASC) Com
mittees. All approved
practices in effect under the
1970 National AGP are
eligible. The Development
Group has requested and has
been approved for Multifora
Rose and Johnsongrass
control practices for 1977.
In carrying out the 1977
program, State and County
ASC Committees are
responsible for identifying
