Bull, assistant director for Penn State University’s Cooperative Extension Service and professor of agriculture, will retire January 1 with 39 years of service to the University and state. As assistant director, Bull supervises adult and youth Extension programming in the Southern Allegheny Region comprising Blair, Bedford, Cambria, Fulton, Awards presented to N.J. FLEMINGTON, N.J.-4- H’ers, families, friends, numbering close to 200, attend the recent beef and dairy achievement program at the Stanton Grange Hall. Awards were presented to many youth participating in dairy, beef and swine projects. The highly coveted Cititzenship Award, presented by Mrs. Joseph Pizza, Clinton, was won by Doreen Brunner, Pittstown, for overall achievement in beef project and club ac tivities. The Hunterdon Beef Club made a number of award presentations, including: Achievement—John W. Wengryn, Pittstown; Beef Medals—Barbara Metch, Flemington, and Cindy Brenner, Rocktown; Agriculture—Bob Don caster, Sergeantsville, and Frank Samuel, Pittstown. Beef Record Awards went to members of both clubs as follows: Senior—first to Sue Wengryn, Pittstown; second to Doreen Brunner; third to Sue Schroedel, Flemington. Intermediate—first to Doug Ling, Flemington; second to Cindy Brenner, Rocktown; third to Ken Novak, Flemington. Wengryn, Sr. The top 4-H Dairy Award, county Board of Agriculture, the Mt. Airy 4-H Dairy Club presented awards for the Troply, was presented to Jan Hunterdon Milk Producers Emmons, Stockton. Bull of Agriculture from 1955 to 1958 in the Leader Ad ministration then was named assistant director of the Soutwest Extension Region. He was appointed Secretary of Agriculture by Governor Scranton in 1963 and reappointed by Governor Shafer in 1967. 717-733-2153 Bull played a key role in organizing and establishing the Keystone International Livestock Exposition in 1957, the Pennsylvania All- American Dairy Show in 1964, and the Pennsylvania Junior Dairy Show in 1958. As secretary of Agriculture, Mr. Bull 7 spearheaded efforts to develop increased foreign trade, quality production, and direct marketing for farmers. He initiated a com prehensive state meat in spection program, and, through harness racing funds, he developed needed research projects with matching monies from those agricultural industries needing this research. Professor Bull, as a state cabinent member, also secured funds for the con struction and operation of three facilities on the Penn State Campus, the Soil and Forage Testing Laboratory, Meat Animal Evaluation Center, and Poultry Random Egg Sampling Laboratory.
