Robert C. McKinley,
president of Dairy Council
inc. since 1960, will retire at
the end of 1976. A party
honoring him for his 43 years
of service was held
November 17, in
Philadelphia. Attending
were over 100 friends and
dairy industry
His long career*with Dairy
Council Inc. began in 1934.
McKinley joined the
organization as a field
The youngster fidgeted
and turned with imploring
eyes towards his father
“Why can’t I go out to the
park and play around and
run in the sun like all the
other boys 9” Dad slapped
his fist on the table and
shouted, “Shut up and
deal'”

work, he was active in
procuring additional dairy
industry funding to expand
the reach and impact of the
Council’s educational ef
forts.
Elected president in 1960,
McKinley’s tenure as chief
executive officer spanned
the turbulent years of con
sumer activism. He
engineered transitions
necessary to keep Dairy
Council’s role relevant to
changing consumer attitudes
and needs - in light of the
glare of adverse publicity
directed at business in
general and dairy products
in particular.
During' this time,
McKinley also served ,on
numerous national,
and local dairy
comittees. He plans to spend
his retirement quietly in the
“green pastures” of his West
Chester, Pa., home.
