Lancaster County FFA
chapters will be receiving
awards for superiority in
various programs.
The Eastern Region
National Chapter Safety
Award is one of the awards
which the county chapters
will receive. This award is
based on the extent of extra
safety programs which the
chapters have run
throughout the year. These
awards are chosen by
regions, so that those
chapters in Pennsylvania
which _have won have
competed with 14 other
states in the northeastern
region. Cloister FFA was one
of four chapters in the state
to receive the award, and in
fact was the highest,
receiving a gold emblem.
Cloister FFA also received
the National Chapter Award.

This award is judge on a-,
system which is scored for
all activities in the various
areas of FFA. About 60 to 70
per cent of the chapters in
Pennsylvania take part in
this event, and only die best
programs which cover
varied areas and involve the
most people are chosen.
Cloister is one of three
chapters in the state
receiving a gold emblem, as
is Grassland FFA. Manheim
FFA is also receiving a
bronze chapter award, one of
two such awards in the state.
Grassland will also be
receiving a bronze medal in
the BOAC (Building Our
American 'Communities)
awardprogram.
While not all the chapters
are receiving awards, many.-
of them are sending chapter
representatives to the
