18 —Lancaster Farming, Saturday, Nov. 6, 1976 Two young farmers to get AF degree By DIETER KRIEG EPHRATA, Pa. - Two graduates of the Cloister FFA curriculum will be receiving their American Farmer Degrees in Kansas City next week, thereby attaining the highest level of recognition possible within the FFA program. The two are Robin Ginder of Denver R 2 and Russel Kline of Denver R 3, both of whom are 21 years old and in charge of their own dairy operations. ROBIN GINDER The son of Mr. and Mrs. Ira Z. Ginder, Robin has been farming on his own since 1973, when he was still a senior at Ephrata High School. He operates a 94 acre farm, of which 55 acres are tillable, and keeps in the neighborhood of 50 head of Holsteins, including calves. In addition, the young far mer has 2000 chickens. Also, the farm is a good place to raise children - they have something to do and leam responsibility.” Gmder became the father of a baby girl just two weeks ago. A closer look at the young dairyman’s operation reveals that he has actually been intensively involved in farming for nearly 10 years. Ifwas in 1987 that his father sold the equipment and cows and put the farm itself on the market as well. “If Dad had found the right buyer then, I wouldn’t be where I am,” Ginder an nounced matter-of-factly. With the farm pot being sold, the Ginder family continued to farm half of their property. Robin did much of the work. Steers were brought in to put the barn to some use. The home farm is rented to him by his father.
