Other minor elements such as sodium, fluorine, iodine, silicon, strohitium and barium do not
seem to be universally essential, as are the seventeen already cited, although the soluble
compounds on some may increase crop growth.

Scientists now recognize more than 100 elements. Most of them
occur in plants, but only 17 are currently known to be essential. The 17
known essential plant elements are classified as follows:

PTQSHAFT
POTTSTOWN, Pa. - A new
driveshaft evens torque
loads during turns to
distribute power better,
lessen vibration and extend
life, according to the maker.
Neapco says its new 90
degree shaft reduces all the
traditional problems with
power-take-off m turns
without adding'cumbersome
or troublesome parts.
The new shaft fits directly
onto the PTO shaft of the
tractor and the implement,
just as a standard shaft does.
The secret of its operation
lies in the shaft’s ability to
telescope.
As the tractor turns, the
shaft contracts so that the
angle at the driving yoke and
the angle at the driven yoke
remain almost equal.
Unequal angles at the input
and output yokes cause
uneven torsional loads,
vibration and chattering - all
of which work to induce
failure. By eliminating the
failure-inducers, Neapco
says, the new shaft delivers
longer life.
At present, the shaft is
available in Neapco’s 1800
Series for tractors and
implements rated up to 48
horsepower at 1000 rpm. It is
intended only for original
equipment applications, not
retrofit.
Neapco’s Randy Altenhoff,
national sales manager -
OEM, says each application
will be custom-engineered.
Peak leads - not average
horsepower - are the limiting
criteria, he points out.
