By JOANNESPAHR NEW HOLLAND, Pa. - Melvin Kolb and Marvin Eshleman, Lancaster, exhibited the grand champion dairy cow at the New Holland Sales Stables’ annual Fall Show held here on Wednesday morning. “Cleave View Emmy P C R" had also taken first place in the fresh cow class before being selected as the grand champion of show. A four-year-old classified “Good Plus,” she is the daughter of Pickland Citation R and Cleave View Emma N F. Her dam is classified “Very Good” and produced 17257 pounds of milk and 647 pounds of butterfat in one lactation period. In a repeat performance of the previous year, H. D. The sale which im mediately followed the show had a total of 334 cows, and ran as late as 9:30 p.m. Compared to last year, the prices for this sale were higher and the animals were of better quality. There were also a large number of but of-state buyers. The top 10 animals for the sale averaged $4890 L the top 20 averaged 53750, and the top 100 averaged, $1657.55. The grand champion brought $7300 and was purchased by Alfred Albright, Landenburg. The reserve champion brought $4200 and was purchased by Mowery Frey, Jr., Lan caster. In the fresh cow class, the third place animal brought $3550 and was purchased by William Kepler, Wisconsin. The fourth place animal was purchased by Mowery Frey, Jr., for- $4lOO, and the fifth place animal was purchased by J. Douglas Martin for $4OOO. In the dry cow class $6lOO [Continued on Page 59]
