Inspection fees raised
NEW YORK, N.Y. - The U.
S. Department of
Agriculture announced in
creased fees for voluntary
grading and inspection
services for fresh and
processed fruits, vegetables,
nuts, and related products.
The new fee schedules
became effective Oct. 24.
Officials of USDA’s
Agricultural Marketing
Service, which administers
the inspection and grading
services, said the higher fees
are necessary to offset- ad
ditional operating costs,
including salary increases
authorized by Congress.
Under the new fee
schedule, all regular - com
mercial inspection fees for
fresh fruits and vegetables
will be increased by $2 per
lot and the hourly rate will be
increased from $l3 to $l4.
Inspection fees for processed
fruits and vegetables will
include an increase in the
regular hourly rate from
$17.40 to $18.45. Com

All types of baskets, pit

pottery containers are also
good for holding

such as brass, pewter, iron,
aluminum and bronze also
make attractive containers.
Also, think about where
the arrangement will be
placed and the type of plant
material that will be used
when choosing containers.
A fall cover crop makes so much sense. First, you
can prevent excessive erosion problems. Second,
you conserve valuable soil moisture. And third,' you
have the option of planting Mo-Tillage next spring.
You simply burn off the fall cover crop with ORTHO
ParaquatCL herbicide and plant right into the stubble.
For best results, apply Paraquat with ORTHO X-77
Spreader. Why not come in for a chat.
