And, any trick-or-treater would be glad to find his basket full of good cookies like the sugar cookies and whoopie pies that follow the candy recipes. Of course, the pumpkin pies will have to be eaten at home. Hope everyone has a good Halloween and that your bags get full to the brim with good tasting candy like today’s recipes will make. EASY FUDGE BARS 1 (3 ounce) pack instant chocolate pudding 2 tablespoons butter V 4 cup milk 2 cups confectioners sugar Va cup chopped nuts Combine pudding mix, butter, and milk. Bring just to a boil. Stirring oc casionally, remove from heat quickly. Stir in the confectioners sugar and nuts. Pour in greased loaf pan. Dorothy Sauder East Earl, Pa. Age 14 PEANUT BUTTER CANDY 1 cup com syrup Vz cup sugar 1 cup peanut butter 4 cups com flakes (measure, then crush) 1 cup puffed wheat 1 cup Rice Krispies Heat com syrup, sugar, and butter until sugar is dissolved—Then, stir in one cup peanut butter. Age 12 HALLOWEEN RECIPE ' 2 cups granulated sugar 2 tablespoons honey or white molasses 1 cup cold water Mix together, then put on stove, but do not stir. Boil until mixture forms a soft ball m cold water. This takes from eight to 11 minutes after it starts to boil. Pour onto large platter. Let stand until slightly warm, then stir. Knead until it turns white and becomes creamy. Flavoring can be added. Cover and keep until ready to form into candy. Coat with unsweetened chocolate. Miriam Beiler New Providence, Pa. Age 14 xxx CRISPY CARMEL CORN 7 quarts popped com 1 cup peanuts 2 cups brown sugar 1 cup margarine % cup white com syrup 2 cups brown sugar 1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon vanilla teaspoon soda Measure into a sauce pan: brown sugar, margarine, com syrup, and salt. Bring to a boil and boil five minutes. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla and soda. Pour over popped corn and peanuts which have been measured into a large container. Mix well and turn into two large cake pans. Put in the oven at 250 degrees F. for one hour. Stir oc casionally. When com is taken from oven, remove from pans onto sheets until it is cool enough to make into fine pieces. Store in tup perware bowl. Sylvia Zimmerman Myerstown, Pa. Age 10 XXX PUMPKIN CUSTARD PIE PUMPKIN PIE 2 cups cooked pumpkin 1 cup brown sugar 1 cup granulated sugar 8 eggs, separated Cinnamon 6 tablespoons molasses 1 teaspoon vanilla 1 tablespoon flour- Egg whites, beaten (goes m last) Mix all ingredients: sugar, pumpkin, egg yolks, molasses, flour. Beat egg whites until stifi. Mix above together. Stir in two cups milk, fill unbaked pie shells. Fill up with milk if not full enough. Makes a nice custard layer. Extension Holiday Festival Set HAVERTOWN, Pa. - The Home Economice Advisory Committee of the Penn State Extension Service is holding its annual Holiday Festival on November 9th at the Ebenezer United Methodist Church, Eagle and Steel Roads, Havertown.
