County FFA judging results
MANHEIM, Pa. - Judging
results from county FFA
competition at the Manheim
and Lampeter Farm Shows
were recently made public.
These Fall competitions are
considered the first step m
the process of going to state
competition and then onto
the national level.
In the ninth grade
livestock judging contest
held at the Manheim Farm
Show the following were the
results.
Livestock
Jerry Myer from Lam
peter Strasburg was the first
place ninth grade livestock
judge with 466 points out of
500. Second place went to
Chris Herr, New Holland;
third to Tom Good,
Manheim; fourth to Mary
Boley, New Holland; fifth to
Harold Messner, New
Holland; sixth to Michael
Wood, Solanco; seventh to
Gerald Martin, New
Holland; eighth to Betty
Trimble, Solanco; ninth to
Jeff Taylor, New Holland;
and tenth to Tim Rice,
Ephrata.
Dairy
Jay Shelley, Manheim,
took the first place slot m the
dairy competition with 286.2
points out of 300. Terry
Hackman, New Holland, was
second; Colleen Wise, New
Holland, third, Troy Groff,
Solanco, fourth; Jennifer
Smith, New Holland, fifth;
Sue Ewell, New Holland,
sixth; Kenneth Long, E
town, seventh; Joe Good,
New Holland, eighth; Dennis
Baur, New Holland, ninth;
Robin Dommet, E-town,
Total Contest
In the overall Junior High
contest, Jerry Myer,
Lampeter Strasburg, had the
top amount of points with
686.5 out of 800 The other

In rope pull competition at
the Manheim Fair, Ephrata
Junior High placed first and
Manheim Central placed
second. Ephrata was also
first in senior competition.
There was also a girls’
rope pull at Manheim with
the New. Holland girls
placing first

Livestock Competition
Tim Good, Manheim, had
the top score with 454.2 out of
500 points. Skip Rice, Penn
Manor, placed second; Phil
Shertzer, Penn Manor,
placed fourth; Dale Martin,
Manheim, placed third;
Lamar Groff, Ephrata,
placed fifth; Scott
Heidelbaugh, Solanco,
placed sixth; Dean Weiler,
New Holland, placed
seventh; Linford Weaver,
New Holland, placed eighth;
Lm Frey, Ephrata, placed
ninth; and Gerald Gruber,
E-town, placed tenth.
Senior High'
Dairy Competition
In dairy competition,
Mary Seward, E-town, was
in the first place with 269
points. Following her were
Dennis KoJp, Manheim,
second place; Ron Frey,
Ephrata, in third place; Rick
Sweigart. Ephrata, in fourth
place; Bill Chandler,
Solanco, in fifth place;
Sheryl Bollinger, Ephrata, in
sixth place; Duane Weber,
New Holland, in seventh
place; David Martin,
Ephrata, m eighth place;
Robert Gutshall, Warwick,
in ninth place; and Karen
Fuller, Pequea Valley, in
tenth place.
