From Pa.’s Dairy Princesses
Banquet set
By NANCY ELLINGER
Mifflin County
Dairy Princess
Being Mifflin County
Dairy Princess has given me
many experiences that I
would have missed without
my title. I have met so many
wonderful people who are
only too happy to help me.
For instance, my most
recent experience was the
night of .September 22, or
should-1 say the morning of
September 23 (ap
proximately 2 a.m.). I was
driving bade to college (Lock
Haven State College) from
the Pa. State Dairy Princess
Pageant in Camp Hill. My
car stalled at a lonely
crossroad in Centre Hall and
wouldn’t start. Suddenly car
lights appeared. It was two
state policemen. They asked
what I was doing driving
such a distance alone at
night. I explained that I was
returning from the Pa. Dairy
Princess Pageant, and that I
was a dairy princess. In
terestingly enough, they
congratulated me on the
honor of having my title.
After they got my car
started they followed me for
about 20 minutes to make
sure that my car was
working all right. I was
worried that I would go over
the speed limit while they
were following me because 1
have a “lead foot.” Then I
saw the flashing red light
behind me so I pulled off the
road (fearing the worst).
The officer said we were
near die county line and they
had to turn around. Also,
they were concerned
because I seemed to be
getting sleepy and they
thought I should get some
fresh air. I thanked them for
their kindness. They replied
that they would watch for me
traveling between home and
school.
In appreciation to these
