Stage set
HARRISBURG, Pa. -
Twenty-four entrants will
compete in talent contests at
the 104th annual convention
of the Pennsylvania State
Grange at Sharon, Mercer
County, October 25-28.
The contestants had won
their way to the state finals
in eliminations at the
regional and district levels.
Competition in the finals
begins at 7 p.m. Monday in
the Salmon High School
auditorium for individual
vocal and instrumental
classes, instrumental
groups, variety acts,
quartets and square dance
teams.

how to prepare pork, dairy
products, chicken, apples,
and honey were also given.
Agnes Arnold-Norman,
Extension home economist
described the turnout for the
display as “good.” on
Monday, for her apple
demonstration, she
estimated that 150 people
stopped for a bite to eat and
look reading material with
them, and that on Tuesday,
about 250 passers-by stop
ped Tuesday’s product was
honey,
Thursday and Friday
also in the Sharon High
School auditorium at 7 p.m.,
will be for family vocal and
instrumental groups and
Pomona Grange choruses.
Winner of the best-of-show
honors Monday night, and
first place winners in the
family contests Tuesday
night, will go on to Atlantic
City to compete in the
national contest at the
National Grange convention
November 8-15.
