ZION, Pa. - Two Lebanon County 4-H leaders were recognized for 20 years of service to the 4-H program on Tuesday evening at the annual Lebanon County 4-H Leaders Recognition Dinner held at Zoar’s Lutheran Church, here. Held separately from the 4-H teen awards which will be given out this coming Sunday, the banquet is designed to give special attention to the dedicated leaders who freely give of their services. Receiving certificates and 20-year diamond leader’s pins were Victor Bomgard ner and Leon Arnold. Both men have served as leaders for the 4-H livestock program. Although modest about their years of service to youth, both men agreed that they “like to help children along,” and that they expect to stay working as leaders in the upcoming years. Bomgardner, who is the father of five children, started helping when his children became involved in 4-H, and he firmly believes that parental en couragement makes a big difference in a child’s en thusiasm and performance in 4-H. His children have also followed in their father’s footsteps, with one receiving a nine year certificate and another an eight year cer tificate the same evening Bomgardner was awarded his diamond clover. Arnold, who is also the father of five children, says he “likes working around livestock” and working with children. His own offspring have been active in 4-H with his two youngest still in the beef and pig club. All certificates for the evening were presented by Alletta M. Schadler, County Extension director and Patricia A. Krall, Extension 4-H agent. Certificates were presented to the following: Twenty years of service - Leon Arnold and Victor Bomgardner, County Livestock Club. Nineteen years of service - John Arnold, Elco Dairy Club.
