The booklet contains 21 delicious pork recipes, some of which are the favorites of pork producers’ families. Seven of the recipes are accepted on the WEIGHT WATCHERS Food Plan and were reprinted with their permission. Included in the booklet is pork nutritional information, how much pork to buy, a portion on understanding ham, how to freeze pork, and Lebanon County Farm Women hold 36th annual convention MYERSTOWN, Pa. - The Lebanon County Society of Farm Women held their 36th annual convention on Oc tober 6 at the Myerstown Church of the Brethren. One hundred and ninty members and guests attended. Mrs. Marlin Bennetch, county president, welcomed all visitors and called the convention to order. Mrs. Ray Sattazahn, president of group 5 had charge of devotions. A musical presentation was given by Grace Horst and the Young Ambassadors. A memorial service was held for five deceased members. . Mrs. Aletta Shadier gave a report listing the allocation of contributions to the county 4-H program. Mrs. Shadier also encouraged members to enroll in a C.P.R. program offered by the Lebanon County Red Cross. Mrs. Lois Erb, state president from Dauphin County, was introduced along with guests from the following counties: Berks, Camberia, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lan caster, and York. Six past a section on pork’s many varieties. Another important aspect of the booklet is the section on “Easy Steps to Cooking Pork.” It tells how to roast, broil, braise, pan broil, and pan fry pork. Time and temperature tables tor pork are also included for roasting and broiling fresh and smoked cuts and braising several different cuts. Mrs. Erh told of the Pennsylvania State Con vention which .will be held on January 10. and 11 at Harrisburg during Farm Show week. She also en couraged members to enter the state essay contest en titled “How a Farm Woman Ticks in 76.” Mrs. Harvey Krall, county first vice president gave a brief lecture on sourdough. She then passed out portions to all women who wanted to start their own sourdough supply. She told how to handle it, and also passed out recipes. The Rev. Glenn Hassinger, pastor of the Myerstown Church of the Brethren, welcomed the group at the noon banquet prepared and served by the members of the church. The afternoon program was an instrumental and vocal presentation entitled “Through it all,” given by Julius Garrett. Garrett is a piano tuner from Harrisburg.
