Lampeter sheep show growing
LAMPETER - This year’s
turnout of sheep at the West
Lampeter Fair recently
was larger than last year’s,
but the competition was still
smaller than Sally W.
Martin, chairperson of the
event, would like.
“We are trying to build on
to our 4-H and FFA div
vision,” Mrs. Martin said,
“and, by next year we should
have a more extensive
show.”

The winners of this year’s
competition at the Lampeter
Fair were Robert Ambler,
17, Cochranville, with the
champion ram of the show,
and Robert Zander, Kirk
wood, with the champion
ewe.
Ambler’s animal was a
Hampshire and Zander’s
was a purebred Dorset.

youths representing Penn
Manor High School FFA
recently placed first and
second in agricultural
mechanics competition held
at the Eastern States Ex
position in Springfield, Mass.
Competing against 14
other teams from the nor
theastern states, the Penn
Manor-represented team
took second over all.
Craig Harnish, Lancaster
R 2, also placed first in in
dividual competition, and
Raymond Caldwell,
Millersville Rl, took second,
individually, in the contest.
The competition was both

well as written. Some of the
exercises the boys had to
complete were wiring fuse
boxes and master controls,
identifying tools, figuring
mathematical problems
related to electricity, and
identifying different motors
and their best uses.
Tony Eberly, Denver R 2, a
member of the Cloister FF A,
also competed in. the ex
position. He placed 4th over
all in dairy products. To win
his title, he competed
against 44 other youths in
identifying cheeses, scoring
milk, and inspecting and
grading milking equipment.
