sister, Christian and
Elizabeth Herr, Narvon R 2,
the children of Mr. and Mrs
Robert Herr, swept nearly
all the championship titles of
the Ephrata Fair Lamb show
held on Wednesday af
ternoon.
Christian, 14, had the
champion market lamb, the
champion pen of three
lambs, and was reserve
champion sheep showman.
His sister, Elizabeth, 16,
took the champion sheep
showman and fitter honors,
as well as the reserve
champion pen of three
lambs.
Chris’ champion Suffolk
market lamb was one of the
hardest muscled lambs of
the show, which helped to
win it the title.
To get the animal into this
shape, Chns exercised it
every morning and evening.
Chris also feels that its
breed may have had a part in
its receiving the top title.
“Suffolks are a big meat
breed,” he commented. He
should know the difference
between breeds, since each
child in the family shows a
different breed of sheep, to
eliminate too much fierce
competition within the
family during Fair season.
Eacn year the members in
the family trade breeds, and
this was Chris’ turn for
Suffolks.
Elizabeth had Hampshires
this year. Besides the other
titles, she aLj had the first
