Another high selling individual was “Shardale Kingpin
Goldie,” a 2 year old daughter of Whirlhill Kingpin. Con
signed by Dale Hiestand and Irwin Engle of Bainbndge, she
was purchased for $5lOO by S and H Acres. She’s due to
freshen in late October.
A cow and calf combination - one of several offered in the
sale - received a top bid of $4900.
Noting the wide range of geography represented by buyers
and sellers, Nichol commented: “There was tremendous
crowd interest... it’s a tribute to the job of selection done by
John Howard of our State College staff.” The sale was
managed by the Pa. Holstein Association, with Paul Coun
tryman chairing the sale committee.
Market hog
sale sets record
EPHRATA - The junior
market hog sale held at the
Ephrata Fair on Thursday
evening set a record for the
top price received. Gary
Eberly’s grand champion
brought $2.50 per pound in
comparison to 90 cents a
pound for the champion last
year. The animal was
purchased by Hatfield
packing.
Steve Strauss had the
reserve champion hog for
which he received $1.23 per
pound. Penn Packing was
the purchaser.-

Adams Electric
Cooperative.
Forrest Stouc), Chairman
of the Co-op Month Banquet,
reported on plans for this
event to be held on October
14 at the Cashtown Fireball.
Tickets will be sold by all
council members.

animals. Thirty-eight head
went through the sale ring.
While there were only
about seven buyers, the
bidding went fast and
everything sold well. The
auctioneer for the event was
Randall Kline, Stevens, Pa.
Other buyers for the sale
were the Brownstown Bank,
Knights Meats, New Holland
Sales Stables, and L. Pfautz.
Gehman's Feed Mill,
Denver, donated the
champion and reserve
champion trophies for the
show.

Valley Farmers
Cooperative, and Production
Credit Association.
Standing committees will
be appointed at the next
council meetmg on October
19.
