It goes back to the late 1800’s when riding and roping contests developed from practical ranch work. It can still be heard today in the rodeo arena as World Championship Rodeo comes to the Buck Tractor pull stadium, Sept. 18 for two shows - 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. The show is being produced by Trail ride planned AUBURN - Marvin Moyer, Auburn RI, is preparing himself and mount, Lancer, for an upcoming competitive trail ride. The 25-mile ride is set for October 3, and will start in the Auburn Memorial Park, here. The object of the ride is to acquaint riders with competitive trail riding and introduce them to the Schuylkill County coun tryside. The overall purpose is to stimulate breater in terest in the breeding and use of good saddle horses qualified to make good mounts for trail use. The ride is open to the first 40 entries of any breed or grade of horse four years of age or older, and riders must be at least ten years old. Completion patches will be awarded to all riders finishing the nde and prizes will be awarded to the winners in each division. Plaques will also be given for the best trail horse, best horsemanship, and best conditioned horse. The deadline for registration is September 17.
