Ida’s
Notebook
Ida Risser
We started a bit late as
everyone had a few last
minute things to attend to.
Then, when we were on the
road, Judy remembered she
had forgotten to take my iron
along. To slow things down,
we ran into a half-hour delay
m crossing the Susquehaxuia
and traffic piled up for miles.
Heavy equipment was
parked on the bridge but the
only evidence of work was
one small patch.
Allen, who is the navigator
on all trips, stayed home to
work on a new roof for the
bam. So, a wrong turn on the
road to Penn State didn’t
help tempers any. We didn’t

stop to eat a picnic lunch as
we usually do but only
grabbed a sandwich in the
car.
Since Judy had not
received a needed receipt in
the mail, she went to pick
one up and waited 20 minutes
in the wrong line because no
signs were posted. She
almost wished, at this
moment, that she hadn’t
gone through the last few
months hassel of tran
sferring from Mansfield in
order to switch from
nutrition to food science.
The traffic was terrific in
State College and when we
finally arrived at her dor
mitory and parked to unload,
we discovered that at the last
minute they were sending
her to the East Halls on a
comer of the campus instead
