ALFA-ZYME
FOR CORN SILAGE?
We ask Richard why his choice is
Alfa-Zyme? "First ot all i found my
silage keeps better, with less heating,
I have tried other silage preser
vatives, but I use Alfa-Zyme, because
the cows really milk better on it. Their
appetites are really sharper, and they
seem to be getting more out of their
feed, because the manure is darker,
and there is less corn going out in the
droppings.”

Hog embargo
Rhode Island and New
Hampshire, imposed a
statewide embargo on the
movement or sale of all
swine from those states into
Pennsylvania, effective July
23.
According to Agriculture
Secretary Raymond Ker
stetter, the embargo will
remain in effect until further
notice.
Effective July 29, the
embargo against all classes
of swine from Massa
chusetts, Rhode Island
and New Hampshire
was modified prohibiting the
entry of swine into Penn
sylvania from premises
under individual state
quarantine in the three af
fected states. Swine from
herds not under individual
state quarantine will not be
permitted entry into Penn
sylvania if they are breeding
or feeding swine.

Sharon Bare
(Continued from Page 68]
doing all the flowers for a
wedding this Fall, she says
she really likes the growing
part of greenhouse work the
best.
“I’d sooner get myself
dirty,” she says with a grin.
“And, I’d sooner be outside.”
She proves these points at
home by doing field work
such as discing, baling, and
working in the bam.
“I don’t mind it a bit
having to clean the bam, but
if I have to clean the house -
that’s a different story,”
states the little brownette.
Sue also has her own
vegetable garden with an
assortment of plants. Among
her many varieties, she
grows cabbages, tomatoes,
hot peppers, peppers, and
brussel sprouts.
“I plant a big garden to
sell vegetables to pay for
school clothes,” she ex
plains.

Pennsylvania provided they

to an approved slaughtering

the seal number, and the

Hog cholera was
diagnosed in Worcester
County, Mass., on July 17.
This outbreak follows
previously reported 1976
cases in New Jersey,
Massachusetts, Rhode
Island and New Hampshire.
Secreatry Kerstetter
This year, part of her
garden will be for her
brother’s outfits, also.
She also has a lot of
flowers beds and many
potted plants.
Although she has given it a
try, just like everything else,
Sharon just can’t enjoy any
type of housework or
domestic hobbies. For two
years, she tried 4-H sewing,
but if just wasn’t for her.
And, for some reason, she
loathes housecleaning. To
sum it up, domestic work is
just one of her whizzes that
flopped.
At the present, she seems
to have found something in
greenhouse work that she
really does like, so she won’t
be moving on from that too
quickly. But her outside
interests will probably stay
as varied and changing as
time will allow.
