Risser, Proprietor For Over 80 Years •V A Company You Gan trust & Have Faith In Your Commission Man - I’ve observed the marketing of livestock for 25 years. Paring Jhis time I have come to recognize the honesty 'and integrity'of the-commission man. No group of business men are more honest in their dealing with their customers. Oh, of course, their judgment is faulty in some rare cases. Their advice to customers at times does not prove out. But, all in all their intent is honest. When a farmer does not receive his expected price for his livestock on the market, oft times the com mission man has been blamed: Markets are very unpredictable. -The absence of a certain buyer for a certain kind of animal will make quite a difference in price realized in the sale. A case in point, last week packer-buyers scoured the country buying cattle at prices $2-$3.00 under what came to be market price at Lancaster. As a result thousands of dollars were lost to the farmer who sold direct. There is example after example where one firm of commission men have cared for the livestock interests of a farmer year in and year out. The commission man advises the farmer when to sell. He sorts his cattle for sale. When replacements are needed, he buys feeder cattle for the farmer. In general this farmer must take the ups and downs of the livestock market. But, when all is said and done, feeding livestock has returned these farmers d lucrative existence - they have been well paid for their efforts. In payment of livestock, I’ve watched the com-' missioh niair j>ay' for'his daily consignments many times with borrowed money. I’ve watched him take his loss when customers have failed to pay for their pur chases. I’ye watched him sell feeder cattle at a loss to get rid of old stock to replace with new. If testimony be given on behalf of-the honesty of the commission man, I for one, after years of observance of the livestock marketing scene, can say he is a dedicated representative of the farmer in the marketing of his livestock.
