His wife, a city girl turned farmer’s wife, added that there’s lots of paper work. She, like her husband and four children, are totally involved in the business, and they enjoy it. “I wouldn’t live off the farm,’’ she said en thusiastically, “I love it on a farm —I had to find things to do in town, but not here I’ve been on that side of the fence.” If Mrs. Hitz has any advice at all for those who may be considering the jugging route in their future, it’s making sure that enough good help is around. “Things snowball on you once it starts," she explained, and there’s more to it than one might suspect. They visited more than 20 jugging operations prior to their taking the big step into processing and retailing. As a result they ended up having a pretty fair idea of what’s involved. ~ j^-~r—* 1 1 r ( , 1 < < Good help is no problem at the “Dol-Mar Dairy.” The Hitz’s four children are totally involved and several girls are hired to help in the store. Boyd, 23, takes care of field work, while 21-year old Scott is in charge of the processing end of the operation. Like everyone else in the family, she'has farm life in her blood. Her advice to those who go into retailing is that it’s important to be friendly —the customer should be the store’s first concern. “Anyone who wants to get is a big seller, but they also into it should look around carry meat, some of which is first,” Hitz advised.
