OLD FARMER'S WEATHER FORECASTS
New England: Turning mild and spnng-hke early week, latter part
sunny and warm inland and in north, cool on coast with light rain.
Greater New York-New Jersey: Cloudy and colder than normal
with rain midweek; end of week generally fair and warm.
Middle Atlantic Coastal: Intermittent light rain with seasonal
temperatures first part of week; sunny and mild latter part, but
some ram and very cool by week's end.
Piedmont & Southeast Coastal: Week begins still very cold, but
then warming; rain latter part, weekend partly sunny and turning
very warm.
Florida: Week begins'with moderate to heavy ram and cold, possi
ble freeze in north, partly sunny and slightly warmer than normal
latter part, some showers possible.
Upstate N.Y.-Toronto & Montreal: Very cold with light snow at
first, then clearing and warmer; week ends with storm in east and
west, and much colder.
Greater Ohio Valley: Week begins seasonably warm and fair, then

averages shows 46 cows
averaging $1,823; 11 bred
heifers at $1,263; 17 open
yearlings at $1,014; 11 heifer
calves over 3 months at $545;
and 5 heifer calves and bulls
to service age just under
$4OO.
Buyers from four states,
as far west as Wisconsin,
gathered at East Knoll Farm
near Canton, Pa. this past
Monday for a complete
Holstein Dispersal. The 90
head sold for an average
price of $1,393 with a top of
$4,200.
The owners of East Knoll
are Melvin G. Peifer and
family, who moved to
Bradford County about ten
years ago from Lancaster
County.
High at $4,200 was a
“Flame” daughter with a
beautiful udder that scored
“Excellent” in the mam
mary system the Saturday
the sale. She sold to
CPtik Dempsey, Eagle,
Wisconsin.
Second at $3,800 and going
to Richard Yule, W. Win
field, N.Y. was a “Lucky”
daughter that had just
moved 5 points to 88 on
classification.
