the new breed of
power-matched forage harvester;
Four models —the 2100, 2200, 2300 and 3300 are
ready to match your tractor, 55 hp and up. They’ve
come to be called “the hummers” because of-the
quiet, precise way they wade through heavy ton
nages of com and hay.
Both the quiet operation and high capacity are
the results of new-breed Pox engineering. For
example, special acoustical shielding traps much
of the sound and directs it down to the ground.
And a new type of comhead utilizes quiet rubber
gathering belts and a rotary sickle knife that’s
practically vibrationless.
The result: This new
breed of Fox harvester
runs so smoothly you
can hardly hear the hum

sound of the tractor!

cut, cut, cut... that blends into a hum as the Fox
tonnage terror reaches operating rpm.
Pox knives are set to tick the shearbar all
across 120 inches of kmfe edges. No rip. No shred.
A “hummer” bites sharp and clean to save horse
power, time and repairs under hard use.
Along with this new sound in harvesting, each
“hummer” has a sleek, low profile. And, for each
model, there’s an all-new line of harvesting heads,
including both wide- and narrow-row cornheads,
and 5-foot and O'/z-foot hayheads.

Welfare not his bag
The American incentive to
work is becoming
dangerously weakened by a
welfare system that en
courages people not to work,
Darvin Boyd told an
audience of nearly 100 people
Saturday night, March 22, at
the Brunnerville Fire Hall.
The dinner rally was the
first of five such events,
planned by Boyd, a can
didate for the Republican
nomination to the 16th U.S.
Congressional District seat
now held by Rep. Edwin D.
Eshelman. Boyd said he will
address different issues at
each of the rallies. He
confined his remarks
Saturday night to welfare
and the federal budget. .

incomes of people who work
and people who don’t work is
becoming narrower and
narrower,” Boyd told his
listeners. “In Pennsylvania,
over half the welfare
families of four receive $4344
in public assistance cash
payments and another $744
worth of food stamps an
nually. That’s $5OBB per year,
or 97 tax-free doallars a
week.
“U.S. Department of
Labor figures show us that a
working family of four needs
a minimum of $9198 gross
income. Out of that $9198, the
working family must pay an
average of $2844 per year in
medical costs, tran
sportation, social security
and payroll taxes, which
leaves $6354 - $122 a week -
for the rent, the groceries,
clothing and all tile other
necessities.
“The welfare family
doesn’t pay social security or
wage taxes, and they get free
medical care and tran
sportation. That means the
working family has only $25
a week more to spend than
the family that doesn’t
work.”
