I would like to offer some background to find the right bulb type to fit your needs. An inside frosted bulb, often called the “standard bulb,” is etched on the inside surface to soften its light. This type is the least ex pensive. For a softer, diffused light which offers less glare, choose a toft white bulb. It has a silica coating, rather than etching on the inside, and gives off slightly less light than a standard bulb. Soft-wblte-plus bulbs contain a special filament which stays relatively cool when a bulb is lit. They last 50 to 100 percent longer than standard bulbs, but cost more. Use these for soft diffused light or in a hard-to get-at fixture. You won’t have to change them as often as some other bulbs. A special filament gives long-life bulbs their lasting power about three times as long as standard bulbs. But the extended service comes at the cost of the light output.
