Swine meeting slated
The Garden Spot Adult
Farmer Program will be
holding an educational
meeting for area swine
producer* on Tuesday.
February 3,1971 at 7:45 pm.
at the agriculture classroom
of the Garden Spot High
School. The subject area to
be discussed will be,
Selecting Breeding Stock. A
panel type discussion will be
held with the panel being
made up of area breeders
and Lancaster County Swine
Producers Aasoc. Directors,
John Henkel, Mark
Ncstleroth, and Tony Folker.
All area swine breeders will
find thia a most informative
meeting. Swine fatteners are
also invited and can add a lot
to a meeting like this as the
discussions progress.

County who purchased a
farm show steer from a
young 4-Her.
Just dropping you a line to
thank you for participating
in the 1976 beef sale at the
Farm Show. Your support
was greatly appreciated.
This was my first year in
state competition. I am a
fourth year member of the
Fayette County Beef Club.
The name of the steer you
bought is “Fred.” Fred was
bom on my father’s farm. He
is 18 months old. We brought
selecting breeding stock
include: What type of animal
do the packers want? What
records should be considered
when selecting boars? What
gilts should be kept in the
breeding herd? How can
local breeders use sonaray
assistance? and, Where can
a breeder purchase quality
breeding stock?
Swine fattemers will want
to know If they can afford to
pay a little more for feeder
pigs from selected breeding
stock. This question will be
raised and representatives
from feed companies who
purchase feeder pigs for
contract will be available for
comment as well as the
panel of breeders.
All area swine producers
are invited. Refreshments
will be served.

similarly completed by
registered Holstein cows on
official test.
The Pennsylvania
Holstein’s official record of
production totalled 24,193
lbs. of milk and 1,049 lbs. of
butterfat in 365 days. She
started her lactation at the
age of IS years one month
and was milked two times
daily.
"Rae” is the only cow in
the breed to have completed
eight 1,000 lbs. butterfat
records.
“Rae” has also been
designated previously as a
STA-RITE Milking Equipment

Guy Hitz of Dol-Mar Dairies, R 1 Annville, has been a Sta-Rite owner since October of 1974.
Mr. Hitz is pictured in double-four full comfort Sta-Rite milking parlor. This parlor features the
three inch stainless steel low line milking and receiving system and a electrically controlled
feeding system.
Mr. Hitz stated he has been satisfied with the Sta-Rite equipment and Agway service.
