Admission to the Conservatory Christmas Display is by payment of the day's admission fee to the gardens, $l.OO on weekdays and $1.50 on weekends and holidays. Here and there on low mounds around the Parking Lot, trees have been spotted with the colored lights, so that visitors look up at some trees ahd straight ahead at others. The Longwood staff began stringing the lights for Christmas Tree Lane late in October, and planning for the display began even earlier. Twenty-seven hundred pomsettia plants in pink, white and red dominate the Co-op members view film At the December meeting of the Adams-Franklin-York Council of Farmer Cooperatives, members reviewed a film entitled, “The Ways of Doing Business in a Democracy.” This 16mm color film was produced by the American Institute of Cooperatives as an educational tool to teach the cooperative way of doing business. The polnsettlas are grown at Longwood especially for the Christmas display, and some are very different from those sold in florists shops at Christmas. Because of the Main Con servatory's vast dimensions (the glass ceiling is well over thirty feet above the floor) a number of extremely tall plants are grown, their red and white “flowers" raised on four-foot stems above the Conservatory’s green lawns. In a small house near the Main Conservatory, Longwood’s Department of Educations has arranged a Council was invited to make this program available to schools and service clubs in their local areas.
