Home Ec teams slated for
HARRISBURG - Thirteen
home economics teams from
Pennsylvania high schools
and area vocational
technical schools have been
selected to compete in the
school demonstration con
test held in conjunction with
the 1976 State Farm Show.

HARRISBURG - The
Sunshine Players of
Harrisburg Area Com
munity College present a
Christmas puppet show
featunng local puppeteer,
Rob Gardner on December
21 at 2 00 p m and 4 00 p.m.
in the Rose Herman Lehr
man Arts Center at H.A.C.C.
The show is being sponsored
by the H A C.C. Alumni
Association
Gardner, a 21 year old
professional puppeteer, will
perform the skits, “Turkey
Delight” and “The Giving
Tree." The show is part of a
tour Gardner is making to
area community clubs,
libraries, and theatres.
Some of Gardners per
formances include
presentations at the
Harrisburg and Lebanon
Valley Arts Festivals, the
1974 Puppet Festival at
Tulane University in New
Orleans, and appearances on
local television.
This summer, he was
funded by the Pennsylvania
Department of Education to
teach English, via original
puppet shows, to Vietnamese
refugees at Indiantown Gap.

USDA announces ACP grants
WASHINGTON The
U.S. Department of
Agriculture announced a
state allocation of funds
totaling $B9 million for the
1976 Agricultural Con
servation Program (ACP).
The allocation was
determined by the Secretary
of Agriculture according to

contest totals $520, with $65
going to the first place
winner. All other teams will
receive a cash award of at
least $25.
Three prizes totaling $lOO
will be awarded by the

A self-taught professional,
Gardner has designed and
constructed over 50
marnonettes and hand
puppets, which he uses in
both original and adapted
shows. Gardner is currently
assembling his six original
written works for
publication.
He is a member of the
Puppeteers of America, the
International Association of
Puppeteers, and the Quaker
Village Puppeteers.
Mr. Gardner is also the
puppeteer - in - residence
with the Harrisburg School
District, the Children’s
Theatre Group at H.A.C.C.,
and the Central Penn
sylvania Summer Theatre.
Admission to the per
formances is $.75 for
children; $l.OO for adults.
The Box Office opens at 1:15
p.m. and 3:15 p.m. There will
be no advance ticket sales.
