Gifts were ex changed following the meeting. The next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Ebse Shenk, Long Road on January 14 at 9:00 a.m Ida’s Notebook It really seems as though Christmas is just around the comer. The cards have been mailed with letters tucked in to friends and relatives living in other states and countries. The house is filled with the sweet aroma of many varieties of cookies being baked. (Of course, some are hidden in the freezer so there will be an assortment for guests.) Evergreen boughs and red ribbon have been my materials to decorate the front door in a jiffy. Some of the decorations are a bit faded but we enjoy seeing them hung in a particular spot each year. Some were made by our older children when they were in kin dergarten and first grade. However, the most im portant part of Christmas is remembering the Christ Child and visiting with family and friends. Mrs Floyd McCleneghan and Mrs. William Schroeder were chosen to serve as delegates to the state con vention in Harrisburg. The next meeting will be held Jan 9 at the Cocoa Cola Building, Lancaster. Of ficers will be acting as hostesses. Ida Risser hauled it in his own big truck. The price was $B. per ton when we bought it for the space heater which sat in the middle of our living room for many years. Boy, do I remember the dust from riddling the ashes into the pan! And shoveling the coal caused coal dust to settle on everything. Now, when I fill the furnace hopper each morning, the dust settles on my canning jars which isn’t nice either so I keep them covered. When we first had someone deliver coal for us, they wondered when they could bring it. It seems that they were worried they’d get stuck in some muddy lane, guess they thought only “hicks in the sticks” use coal anymore. Actually the stoker which automatically feeds the furnace and heats hot water for everything is a big improvement over the old method of heating. And they like the one-half mile of paved lane. Society 22 Members of Farm Women Society 22 began their Christmas celebration at their regular meeting held at the Lampeter Fire Hall Tuesday. Hostess was Mrs. E Clair Wltmer and co hostesS was Mrs. Henry Hess. Christmas games and carol singing set the stage for the holiday season, and the hostesses entertained by giving a skit concerning all the members of the Society. The highlight of the evening was a surprise visit by Santa Claus. After checking to make sure everyone had been good during the year, Santa assisted in distributing the handcrafted gifts of the gift exchange. During the business meeting conducted by president Mrs. Lester Landis, members were in vited to model their bicen tennial dresses at the annual banquet of the Farm and Home Foundation on January 29. Arrangements were also discussed for the state convention to be held in UNCLAIMED FREIGHT CO.
