Slaughter steers mostly
steady with previous mid
week, some instances 25
cents higher. Heifers closed
steady to 25 cents higher,
cows steady to 50 cents
lower, best demand for
utility und commercial
Bulls steady
Four day receipts 19,500 as
compared 18,900 previous
week and 22,300 a year ago.
Steers approximately 35 pet
weeks total, heifers 30 pet,
cows 16 pet and feeders for
Friday auction 17 pet. Fed
cattle trade followed a stable
course under a generally
good demand even in the
face of an unresponsive
early carcass trade.
Most interest were in need
of cattle for immediate
requirements forepart of
week and there was a fairly
good demand for cattle to be
slaughtered outside the
immediate Omaha area
although late demand lagged
somewhat as needs for the
immediate future were
filled. Many cattle carried an
increasing amount of mud
with feedlot conditions
deteriorating and dressing
percentages often uncertain.
Steer supply predominantly
good to average - choice. A
fair percentage choice
