Ida’s
Notebook
Do other people have the
same problems that I do?
Somehow we think we can
accomplish more than we
actually get done.
Maybe, save material and
yet never make a quilt. Or,
dry flowers and then don’t
arrange them into a bouquet.
Sometimes it takes weeks to
get around to sewing a tear
in the rug or pasting a loose
piece of wallpaper.
However, if I have guest
coming, then I get a burst of
energy and wash those
windows I’ve intended doing
and polish the silver I’ve just
been thinking about. Do you
do this too?
Ida Risser
Allen finally got a spike
buck after many years of no
success. Really, he.has only
spent hours hunting Instead
of days as many farmers do.
As I wrap the meat for the
freezer, I’m hoping my
family will like venison.
Cooking game can be a
challenge. I remember my
older boys liked fried
squirrel better than squirrel
pot pie!
Recently I exchanged
sweet potatoes for a string of
fish which a Shillington man
caught in our meadow. He . , ....
told me his wife makes mth
delicious meat balls from the fear astern '
carp. I was glad he gave me Thomas Jefferson

the suckers and not the carp,
though.
When our daughter was
home from college last week,
she kept us well supplied
with baked goods. She made
muffins for breakfast and
then eclairs for lunch. We
had a choice of apple, cherry
or shoo-fly pie for supper.
Rye buns flavored with
caraway seeds were served
too.
Now that she has gone
back, I’ll have to start
making Christmas cookies
as I’ve invited 65 relatives
for the Holidays.
