J. Holloway’s ‘Co-Co’ wins top honors •
John Holloway, Wcat
Chester, won Grand
Champion honors with “Co-
Co,” hla 1200 lb. Angus -
Charolais steer at the
Chester County 4-H Beef
Show, held November 24 at
Crcbilly Farm, West
Chester. He will be showing
his champion steer at
Harrisburg at the Penn
sylvania Farm Show in
January. A cup was
presented to him by Mr. and
Mrs. James K. Robinson,
also of West Chester.
The Reserve Grand
Champion steer was a 1280
lb crossbreed shown by Jim
Wylie, Nottingham. He
received a silver platter
donated by Mr. and Mrs.
Robert Kerstetter, West
Chester Jim als exhibited
his steer the following day in
the Southeast Pennsylvania
4-H Beef Show and Sale held
at the Lancaster Stock
Yards. His steer won
Reserve Grand Champion
honors at this four-county
show, and Jim was judged
champion showman. Baums
Bologna, Elizabethtown,
purchased his steer at the
sale that afternoon
The Grand Champion steer
at the Southeast Show was a
1230 lb. crossbred exhibited
by Betty Reiff, a Lancaster
County 4-H Club member.
Her champion steer sold for
$2.00 a pound at the auction,
and was purchased by
Willow Valley Farms
Restaurant and Motor Inn,
Willow Street.
Valley Grangers
honored
LEWISBERRY - Miss
Mary Margaret Craft, of
York Haven, winner of a
grand national needlework
award in Grange com
petition, was honored
recently at a meeting here of
Valley Grange.
Prize winning ribbons
awarded an afghan she bad
knitted, and a check for
$1,150 were presented to
Miss Craft by J, Luther
Snyder, master of the
Pennsylvania State Grange.
The afghan had taken first
place ribbons in county and
state Grange judging before
it was entered in the
needlework competition at
the National Grange con
vention in Columbus, Ohio,
last month. There, it was
judged first m its class and
then selected for the grand
national award. Miss Craft
received $l5O for first place
and $l,OOO for the grand
award
Joining Snyder m the

Hanover, deputy state
mastei, Mrs. Harry
Schreiner, of Newport
regional director of women's
activities for the State
Grange; Glenn Sterner, of
Hanover, Pomona master,
and Mrs. William Reichart,

Pomona Grange.
Valley Grange, of which
Miss Craft is a member, was
presented with a check for
$5OO in recognition of Miss
Craft’s accomplishment. It
was presented by Snyder to
James A. Kegel, Valley
Grange master.
Miss Craft’s mother, Mrs.

Valley Grange also was
honored with another award
that had been announced at
the national convention in
Columbus. It bad submitted
the largest order for
National Grange Bicen
tennial Cookbooks of any
Grange in the United States.
An autographed copy of the
book was accepted by Miss
Catherine Wise for Valley
Grange.
The Champion steers at the Chester County 4-H
Beef Show held recently at Crebilly Farm, West
Chester were shown by John Holloway, West
Chester, and Jim Wylie, Nottingham. Presenting
the grand champion cup to John Holloway (right)
is Mrs. James K. Robinson, Crebilly Farm, West
Chester. John was also champion junior showman.
In January, he will show his grand champion steer
at the Penna. Farm Show in Harrisburg. Jim Wylie N -

champion senior showman. Jim also showed his
steer at the S. E. Penna. 4-H Beef Show and Sale
held the following day at the Lancaster Stock
Yards. At the Southeast show, Jim’s steer again
won reserve grand champion honors, and Jim was
chosen grand champion showman.
