Betty Ann Relff, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Reitf, showed her light heavyweight crossbred Simmental steer to top honors during competition with a number of heavyweight steers. A student at Lancaster Mennonite High School, Betty Ann has been a member of the Red Rose Baby Beef Club for the past five years. While Betty Ann voiced surprise at her victory, the youth has received a first place ribbon at the Keystone Livestock Expo held recently in Harrisburg. Betty Ann admitted that she had worked many a long hour in grooming and exercising her steer, then added that her father had given her a lot of help. “He raises steers but not for show however he did give me a lot of help.” Another Lancaster County girl made her way to the winners circle taking reserve place honors. Nancy Herr, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Herr, Lancaster, showed her crossbred steer to second place honors in the contest.
