Apple Dumplings Dough: 2 cups flour 2'i teaspoon baking powder •s teaspoon salt two-third cup shortening 4 cup milk Sauce: 2 cups brown sugar 2 cups water cup butter 4 teaspoon cinnamon Peel cut and half 6 apples. Roll out the dough cut in squares. Place *2 of each apple on the square. Moisten edges of dough and press into a ball around the apple. Set dumplings in a pan. Pour sauce over and bake. XXX Walnut Raisin Cake 1-one -third cup brown sugar 4 cup liquid margarine 2 eggs 1 teaspoon vanilla 2 cups unsifted flour 3 i teaspoons baking powder 1 teaspoon cinnamon 4 cup milk 2 cups fine chopped apples 1 cup chopped walnuts 1 cup raising Combine sugar and margarine, beat in eggs and vanilla. Sift flour baking podwer and cinnamon. Stir into egg mixture alternately with milk. Stir In apple, nuts and raising. Bake In 350 degree oven for 40-45 minutes. Katie Stoltzfus age 7 Christiana. Pa. XXX Chocolate Mountain Cake 4 tablespoons cocoa 2 3 4 cups cake flour 4 teaspoon baking soda 3 teaspoons baking podwer 4 teaspoon salt 24 cups sugar 3 4 cups lard 3 large eggs 14 cup cold water *4 cup vinegar 14 teaspoon vinegar Sift dry ingredients together twice in a large mixing bowl, add the other ingredients beating well. XXX Carmel Popcorn 1 cup brown sugar 1 cup light corn syrup one-third cup water 1 teaspoon vinegar U teaspoon soda 2 quarts popped corn Bring ingredients (except corn) to a boil Stir frcgucnlly until the syrup reached a firm ball state. Remove from heat and stir in popcorn, coat well. Spread on waxed paper to cool.
