Add bay leaf. Arrange onions over top and pour cream over top. Bake uncovered in a 350 degree oven for 40 minutes. Herbed Tomato Salad Into French dressing, place freshly chopped chives. Quarter and peel tomatoes. Marinate tomatoes in dressing for several hours. Use small peeled, cooked potatoes and pan fry slowly in 2 tablespoons chicken fat. Sprinkle with Vi teaspoon dill seeds, salt and pepper. Herbed Brussel Sprouts 2 lb. sprouts one-third cup butter 1 tablespoon grated onion 1 tablespoon lemon juice % teaspoon salt V« teaspoon thyme teaspoon marjoram teaspoon savory Soak sprouts 20 minutes in cold salted water. Rinse. Cook 20 minutes. In another saucepan, melt butter and seasonings. When sprouts are tender, drain. Place in serving dish and pour on the butter-herb mixture. Herbed Cake 1 box pound cake mix 3 tablespoons caraway seeds Vi teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg Follow directions but reduce timing from hrs to 1 hr. Wild Rice Casserole Brown one lb. sausage Add: 1 cup chopped celery 1 large onion • chopped 1 cup mushrooms 1 cup raw wild rice 2 cups cold water 4 tablespoons soy sauce 1 can chicken soup 1 can celery soup , . NOTE: Mushroom soup may be used when cup of mushrooms is not available. Mix all and bake at 350 degrees for 1 Ms hours. Baked Alaska Sundaes 4 dessert sponge cups 4 teaspoon chopped nuts >■4 cup sugar l * cup fudge sauce 4 scoops vanilla ice cream 2 egg whites speck of salt Hollow out cups much more than the way they come. Place 1 teaspoon nuts and 1 tablespoon fudge in hollow. Put a firmly packed scoop of ice cream on top. Beat egg whites and salt until stiff. Gradually add sugar, con tinuing to beat until meringue is stiff and glossy. Freeze, on brown paper on board. Bake at 400 F. 5 minutes. Serve immediately. Flame with heated brandy.
