    Farm Women attend

lancaster County Farm
Women met last Saturday
afternoon at the Farm and
Home Center for their an
nual Fall convention.
Representing the 31 societies
in the county, the farm
women were present (or a
business session as well as
afternoon entertainment.
Mrs. Carl Johnson, former
president of the county of
ficers, was in charge of the
morning business session.
Reports were given by the
county officers as well as by
the local groups. The mor
ning devotions were given by
Mrs. Henry Reist.
A presentation of funds for
the Farm and Home Center
highlighted the morning
session. Jay Landis,
president of the foundation
directors, accepted the

The societies had agreed
earlier in the year to donate
the money to the foundation
for toward a piano for the
basement meeting rooms.
Following the noon meal, a
memorial service was held
to honor those members who
had died during the year.
Mrs. Albert Fry of Society 27
was In charge of the
program. Devotions and
poems were Included in the
service.
The Hershey's a family
musical group, entertained
during the afternoon session
and presented a myriad of
songs and instrumental
numbers.
Mrs. Ruth Hand, home
economist for Schuylkill
County, was the keynote
speaker for the day. Mrs.

Hand entitled her talk "Still
Holding at 39" and gave
insights into staying young
both mentally and
physically.
The newly elected county
officers were then installed
by Mrs. S. Lee Richards,
state president of the farm
women. Mrs. Robert
Gregory Litftz RJ was in
stalled as the Uncastcr
County president.
A special highlight of the
program was a fashion show
and parade of bicentennial
dresses constructed by the
farm women. Outfits
depicting the colonial days
and early settlers were in
evidence. Many of the
women added a touch of
nostalgia to their outfits %
carrying baskets and shawls
passed down by their
families.

The Society of Farm
Women 2 of Berks Co. met in
the home of Dr. and Mrs.
Carl Miller, Bethel, R 1 for
their October meeting with
22 members attending. Most
of the ladies came masked
with the following receiving
these prizes: most hair
stuffing - Mrs. Clayton Sch
mehl, longest hone - Mrs.
Carl Kauffman Jr., saddest
face - Mrs. Mildred
Emerich, best dressed man -
Mrs. Clarence. Klahr, and
last one guessed Mrs.
Mildred Emerich. Mrs.
Gregory Goshorn was the
judge.
After the judging and
unmasking a reading of
scripture was given by Mrs.
Carl Seiverling, followed by
the Lords Prayer and flag
salute.
The election of officers
was in charge of Mrs.
Harvey Zimmerman and
Mrs. Eugene Stump with the
following new officers for a
two year term; President -
