But a combination of breed association officials in the Old Line State and representatives of the Cooperative Extension Service at the University of Maryland in College Park has kept the Southeast district educational meeting alive. The result is an array of nationally recognized speakers for an afternoon and evening meeting set for next Wednesday (Nov. 5) at the Montgomery county fairground in Gaithersburg. It will serve as a prelude for the seventh annual district sale, beginning at 11 a.m. on Thursday (Nov. 6) at the same location. Theme for Wednesday's educational meeting is “Breeding the Long-Term Dairy Machine While She lasts. You Last." The event will commence at 1 p.m. with registration and refresh ments in the new auditorium across from the fairground dining hall. A functional breed type demonstration is scheduled in the auditorium and nearb> livestock bams from 1:15 to 4:30 p m.. with a social hour at 630 pm and buffet dinner at 7 o'clock in the dining hall An evening panel discussion will feature three recognized authorities on mating services for dairy cattle. Finale for the day’s event will be a “fun night" under the supervision of Robert D.
