Oct. 25. 1975 66 SEPTEMBER 1975 The top herd In the Chester DHIA program last month was Herman Stoltzfus’ whose 51 registered and grade Holsteins produced an average of 1.94 pounds of butterfat per cow per day. Coming in close behind for second place was the registered Ayrshire herd at Ardrossan Farms. With 117.5 cows on test for the month, average dally butterfat production was at 1.91 pounds per cow. Those herds with an average butterfat production of over 1.50 pounds per cow per day are included in the following report. Results for Robert Pepple, Elam Petersheim and Jefferson Yoder, are for August, rather than September, the Chester County Extension Service Jefferson Yoder had the first and second high individual records produced in 305 days on twice a day milkings. The leader was a registered Holstein with 22,611 pounds of milk, a 4.6 per cent test, and 1,037 pounds of butterfat to her credit. The second-place slot also went to a registered Holstein for her performance 22,501 pounds of milk, a 4.1 per cent test, and 933 pounds of butterfat.
