2 at the Milton Hershey
School Farms in Hershey to
compete in a “run-off”
match designed to determine
the three men who will
represent Pennsylvania in
next year’s U.S.A. Plowing
Matches.

weaning weight was 449 lbs.
Her weaning weight ratio
was 96 among 15 con
temporaries whose 205-day
adjusted weight averaged
468 lbs. This 87-lb. im
provement over her dam
exceeds the 1975 National
Simmental Sire Summary
total progeny average of 66
lbs. increase in weaning
weight of %-blood Sim
mental heifers over 16-
bloods.
The 3 /4-blood heifer also
weighed two lbs. less at birth
than her mother, Vaniman
noted. “This shows that
when animals are bred
according to performance
data, higher weaning
weights can be achieved
without increasing birth
weights,” he said.

American Simmental
Association herd book have
increased by more than
100,000 head in the last
twelve months. To date, the
Association has 7,644
members, with each
member registering a
current average' of 14.6
