J. Goodman has been elected
vice president - government
relations, Washington office,
by Continental Grain
Company, effective October
13.
Goodman will be in charge
of the company’s office at
1001 Connecticut Ave., N.W.
replacing Samuel H. Sabin,
who retires after 22 years
with Continental.
Goodman joins the com
pany from the United States
Department of Agriculture,
where he has been associate
administrator of the Foreign
Agricultural Service since
1972. In that post he was
involved directly with
development of trade
legislation and subsequent
trade negotiations. At FAS,
Goodman has been
associated with commodity
research and analysis here
and abroad.

Goodman’* previous
agribusiness experience was
as Washington represen*
tative and later in grain and
soybean merchandising in
the Far East.
Earlier, he was an
economist with the National
Advisory Commission on
Food and Fiber and with
Great Plains Wheat, Inc. as
an economist in Europe and
the United States.
A former faculty member
at North Dakota State
University, Goodman holds a
B.S. in agriculture from
North Dakota State and M.S.
in agricultural economics
from the same school. He
received a Ph. D. in
economics in 1961 from the
University of Minnesota.
Goodman is married,
father of two, and lives at 5
Masters Court, Potomac,
Maryland.
