—Lancaiter Farming, Saturday, September 20. 1975 12 The Ephrala Fair, now in its 37th. consecutive year will officially open Sep tember 23 and continue through the 271 h, It is Penn sylvania's largest street fair. One of the big events on the program is the annual parade held September 24., starting at 7 o'clock. Rain date is the following evening at the same time. The largest and most colorful parade in eastern Penn sylvania is comprised of more than 123 units, which attracts more than 60,000 spectators. High school bands, marching groups, majorettes, floats, pageant queens, and Mrs. Lancaster County Flrechief con testants, will be included in the parade. A carnival spirit will prevail throughout the five day event along the midway stretching for several blocks with eating stands, rides, concessions and free en tertainment at the band stands each evening during fair week. "Tent City" located In the F.phrata Community Park area will display Baby beef, cattle, swine, sheep, poultry, tobacco, grain, seed and forage. Tractor driving, judging of livestock and contests will be conducted daily. Agricultural and farm segments of the fair, ac tually the foundation on which the fair was built, will be centered in Tent City. It is there that contests are programmed which draw several thousand persons. There will be a pig chase and a cow milking contest in which prominent local citizens participate and provides lots of fun. There will be a tractor driving and garden tractor pulling contest. A swine sale and a carcass lamb auction is slated and those visiting this section of the fair will find many displays and exhibits of absorbing interest.
