82—Lancaster Farming, Saturday, September 13. 1975 GROUND STABILIZER Mud-free feeding areas for live stock can be achieved more quickly and economically with Mlrafl HO, a unique ground stabilization and drainage fabric, new from Celanese. Mlrafl HO, under development since 1971 in North America, has proven successful in a number of heavy construction projects, including the building of a 4,500 foot access road across a peat bog for Niagara Mohawk Power Company, Syracuse, New York. Mirafi 140 is a durable nonwoven fabric made of heat-bonded nylon polypropylene and polypropylene filaments. It is designed specifically for use in the construction in dustry as a water permeable support material in ground stabilization and drainage applications. Mirafi 140 is virtually rotproof and resistant to alkalies and weak acids. Mirafi 140 utilizes three performance advantages to reduce construction costs and improve performance: separation (isolation of poor subgrade from compatible aggregate); filtration (free passage of water and moisture through the fabric membrane); and rein forcement (reduction of stress within a body tran sference of stress along the membrane). Mirafi 140 is available in rolls, 100 meters in length and four and one-half meters in width, and can be easily installed by two men. When wider widths and lengths are required, the fabric can be overlapped, allowing a simple one meter overlap. Other applications for Mirafi 140 include: land reclamation; and erosion and siltation control. Mirafi 140 is manufactured by Fiber Industries Inc., a subsidiary of Celanese Corporation and is available in Canada through Celanese Canada Ltd. _ - DIAL-A-MATIC SPRINKLER Melnor Industries, Moonachie, N.J., announces a new dimension in automatic sprinkling. New ., GRAIN UNLOADER An all-new bottom silo grain unloader has been introduced by Laidig, Inc., which provides livestock fanners with a new method of removing various grains from silos. Known as LAIDIG JR, the unloader features a Pow-R-Sweep Auger for efficient unloading of grains with high moisture content, including ground ear com. Laidig, who markets a well-known heavy-duty bottom silo unloader for handling whole plant silage, has incorporated several exclusive features which were extensively field-tested prior to introduction. The rugged Pow-R-Sweep Auger is supported by an extra-heavy-duty gear grain with a 2” stressproof output shaft. A large over-sized bearing in the gearbox for Hie output shaft exceeds NEW SPREADER TANK A new 2300 gallon spreader tank, available as a vacuum system with a rear discharge or as a standard spreading unit with a slide discharge impeller, has been an nounced by Badger Nor thland, Kaukauna, Wisconsin. Model BN 325 tank, built of 3-16 inch steel plate and double welded for strength, rides on a steel frame. It is mounted to a walking tan dem axle, which literally floats heavy loads over rough fields. As a vacuum system, the 2300 gallon tank can be fully pressurized. The vacuum pump is mounted on the front of the spreader and is operated by direct drive PTO. It has a built-in vacuum relief valve which automatically opens to relieve any excessive pressure should the vacuum system become blocked. It is adjustable to meet varying conditions. A reversing control lever instantly changes vacuum to pressure. A float check valve located inside the tank automatically shuts off vacuum when tank is full. Standard equipment is a heavy-duty vacuum hose which is four inches I.D. It normal engineering requirements. A unique Positive Flow Hopper has been developed by Laidig engineers, which force-feeds material into the <xit auger. The easy-to i%ach and maneuver closing hatch on the exit auger shaft is exclusive feature. • The Laidig Mr. Grain Unloader is delivered vvith a totally enclosed 3 HP motor and an enclosed switchbox.. It is furnished with several different-sized pulley sets to permit quick changes in the unloading speed when needed. The unloader has a rugged industrial torque arm 15-to-l gear reducer on the main drive. For additional information and product literature, write Laidig Inc., 1320 South Merrifield Avenue, Mishawaka, Indiana 46544. features a quick lock for easy attachment and has a two foot length of steel tubing on the intake end to prevent vacuum collapse. The high capacity vacuum pump can fill the 2300 gallon tank in six to seven minutes. Field spreading time is equal to, or less than, the loading time. Rate of manure discharge from the rear is controlled by an adjustable spreader plate. The standard 2300 gallon spreader tank features a PTO-driven side impeller which spreads an even swath of liquid manure up to 40 feet. Unloading time is four minutes or less to cut field and tractor time to a minimum. An optional three nozzle rear discharge is available to provide a uniform radial spray pattern (approximately 35 feet wide). An optional Liquid Manure Injector can be added to the Model BN 325 spreader tank. Up to five gallons per run ning foot, depending on ground speed, can be discharged. Unloading time is the same as normal top spreading. For smaller operations, Badger has a 1500 gallon spreader tank which is available as a vacuum GRAIN VENTILATOR Harvcitoll announces the WHIRLCOOLERtm, a jumbo sized, wind-driven turbine for ventilating stored grain and shelled com. Used in conjunction with drying bins, the WHIRLCOOLER promotes constant ventilation of stored grain, and tempers air velocities from the surface grain while the drying fan is in operation, thus obtaining more effective grain drying and curing. With the WHIRLCOOLER, it is not necessary to remove the roofcap when aerating stored grain with a fan. Patents Pending.
