The ZERO CONCORD is a combination of a revolutionary pipeline
milking machine and the ZERO Completely-Automated Vacuum Bulk
Milk Cooler It’s the only system that provides stable milking
vacuum at the teat end—in parlor or stanchion barn —with a low
or high, short or long, pipeline and without injecting air into
the milker units to move the milk Only with stable vacuum and
no air injection can you hope to reduce leucocyte counts up to
65% increase milk production as much as 20% and prevent
off-flavor milk
A patented, scientific principle TWIN-VACUUM whereby one
vacuum milks the cows —and a different vacuum moves the milk
thiough a separate pipeline into the bulk tank—is what makes safe,
stable vacuum possible Furthermore, ZERO'S patented SPATTER
SPRAY Automatic Washer—and a new, improved, more-compact,
high-capacity, transparent milker unit—provide built-in, “push-but
"ton”, visible self-cleaning and sanitizing of the entire system
without disassembling And there are many other superior features

TLCXO ~ PIONEER OF FARM BULK MILK COOLERS
Lancaster Farming, Saturday, September 13.1975
Director appointed
for Pioneer Division
DES MOINES, lA., - Dr.
William 1.. Brown, President
of Pioneer Hi-Bred In
ternational, has announced
that Dr. Donald N. Duvlck
will assume duties as
director of the newly-formed
Pioneer Plant Breeding
division. Until his new ap
pointment, Duvick had been
Director of Com Breeding.
Research managers of
Pioneer divisions dealing in
seeds will report to Duvick
under the new organization
plan.
Duvick has been with
Pioneer since 1951 after
receiving his Ph.D. at
Washington University in St.
Louis. In 1965, he was named
coordinator of the Com
pany’s Eastern and Southern
com breeding stations and
served in that position until
named director in 1971.
In 1968, Dr. Duvick spent
five months in research and
study of electron
microscopy and
biochemical genetics at the
University of London,
Duvick is a member of many
scientific organizations,
serving as chairman of a
committee of the Crop
Science Society of America
in 1974-75. He is a member of
several honorary societies,
including Sigma XL
Duvick will head a staff of
over SO plant geneticists
engaged in breeding com,
sorghum, alfalfa, soybeans,
and wheat. Pioneer’s
Overseas Seed Division will
continue directing plant
research at its foreign
research stations in close
cooperation with the new
Plant Breeding Division.
Robert Seifert, who has
been serving as coordinator
of Pioneer’s southern com
breeding stations, will move
from Union City, Tennessee
to Des Moines. He will assist
Duvick in coordinating com
breeding research. Seifert,
who has an M.S. in
agronomy from Kansas
State, began his work with
Pioneer in 1951 as assistant
research station manager at
Princeton, Indiana. In 1955,
he was transferred to Union
City as manager of that
station. In addition to
coordinating southern
research, Seifert has headed
up Pioneer’s virus and
downy mildew research
programs.
“The change will result in
even more contact and
closer cooperation between
all of our plant geneticists
regardless of the crop with
which they are working,”
President Brown said. The
researchers will continue to
maintain close relationships
with the Production and
Marketing Departments,
Brown added.
HOT NEW ITEM
Though many Americans
are aware of the vital need
for home fire protection, few
have done anything about it.
The figures are chilling
Last year alone, fire injured
300 000, killed 12,000 and
caused $2 billion woilh of
property damage, but only 8
per cent of U S homes have
fire extinguishers.
Whenever there’s a fire,
people are concerned —yet
many don’t do anything
about protecting themselves
should a fire suddenly break
out m “their” home. Every
one always thinks: “It can’t
happen to me.”
Many fire extinguishers
are bulky, unattractive and
confusing to use—some rea
sons why people don’t buy
them. So Norelco decided
to introduce a fire extin
guisher that’s not only easy
to handle and operate, but
one that also looks good in
any room of the house.
It’s called the Flame
Fighter and it’s soft, antique
white, slim and compact. It
comes with a convenient wall
mount. This timely safety
addition to the home is
designed to be used on grease,
electrical, gasoline, oil and
paint fires and on all other
B and C type fires.
This is a hot item for
the homeowner and a neces-
