York 4-H dairy round-up held
YORK Tuesday proved
to be a busy day for many
York County 4-Hers, their
parents and leaders, as they
participated in the annual 4-
H Dairy Round-up at the
York Fairgrounds.

ELVERSON Robert
Stoltzfus, the 18-year-old son
of Mr. and Mrs. Frank
Houck, Elverson R 2, was
recently selected as the
Reporter for the State FFA
organization. Robert’s ap
pointment to the state office
is the fourth of such for the
Twui Valley High School.
The Berks County youth
was an active FFA'er at
Twin Valley for four years
taking hog fattening as his
mam project. “We always
had hogs and beef around the
home farm,” Robert com
mented, “so when I went into
FFA work I decided to take
hog fattening as I was
familiar with the work in

Active in FFA since his
greenhand year in 1971,
Robert has participated in
the Berks County Swine
Show and sale and was a
livestock judge at both the
Kutztown Fair and FFA
activities week at Penn
State. <ln his sophomore
year, Robert served his
chapter as sentinnel while
competing in the public
speaking competitions and
the swine show and sale.
In his junior year as an
FFA’er, Robert was elected
vice-president of the chapter
and as the chairman of the
Building Our American
Communities he arranged
for and coordinated a water
testing program for chapter
exhibitor.

Keystone Degree at the
Midwinter convention.
Commenting on his
selection as a state officer,
Robert shared his views by
stating, “I’m glad I have the
chance to represent FFA at
various meetings that will be
coming up in the fall.”
“As a State officer, I will
have to give a challenge to
other FFA members to see
the worth in joining the
organization."
Robert will be responsible
for four counties in the
eastern portion of Pa. which
will include visiting some 25
schools.
