Throughout the sale,
buyers and potential buyers
were very enthusiastic and
bidding was brisk Although
the sale average was below
last year's average, more
young stock were selected
and offered to the breeders
The top 30 animals sold for
an average of $2199 well
above last year’s. As in the
past, the Kutztown, Pa.
Fairgrounds proved to be an
ideal setting for the sale.
The Sire Power Sale is
sponsored by Sire Power and
its three member coop
peratives, the Northeast
Breeders Association
(NEBA), the Maryland
Artificial Breeding
Cooperative, and the West
Virginia Artificial Breeding
Association. Stud and office
facilities are located in
Tunkhannock, Pa. and
Frederick, Md.
Penn Manor
4-H Club
The Penn Manor Com
munity 4-H Club held their
monthly meeting at the
home of Tim and Bob Hess.
A donation of money was
given to the 4-H Cystic
Fibrosis drive.
Shen Good was voted the
club’s 4-H Junior Queen
contestant. Bob Hess gave a
swine demonstration
showing what part of the pig
contains the different cuts
of meat.
Jay Stauffer also gave a
demonstration on
beekeeping and the
production of honey. Nanette
Musser gave a talk on
planting and seeding a
vegetable garden.
Terrt Longacre from the
Manor Township police
presented a talk on Summer
safety.
The next meeting will be
held at the Lancaster Forest
Fire Headquarters. A picnic
will follow the meeting.
